2023 Victorian Holiday Home Tour

The Victorian Alliance’s 2023 Holiday House Tour in Alamo Square is dedicated to one of our long-time members, Joseph Pecora, local historian and author, and, most important, avid collector of vintage Christmas decorations. His collection was legendary, and he passionately sought out vintage Christmas to the end of his life. Most importantly, he shared his presentation annually with his lovely Victorian home, decked out in the most extravagant display imaginable. When you think of vintage Christmas decorations, think of Joe. We dedicate this Holiday Tour to him. He inspired us all to unabashedly celebrate and display Christmas.

House Tour, 2023

In 2023 The Victorian Alliance of San Francisco brought back its house tour after a five-year hiatus featuring five homes in the Alamo Square neighborhood, known for the city’s most iconic Victorians. Attendees couldn’t wait to see them!

For the first time, the Alliance organized a holiday-themed tour showcasing homes lavishly-decorated for Christmas and the holidays. Attendees had the opportunity on the tour to see the principal rooms of each home, decorated in high-Victorian style, and learned about the history of the Alamo Square area and each home.

All the historic home information and holiday decorations details were available online as tourgoers followed the tour route on a tour card. It was really fun to see people passionate about seeing these homes and taking in both the visual scene and their histories. You can see the history and the decoration information here.

The 2023 Holiday House Tour in Alamo Square was dedicated to one of our long-time members, Joseph Pecora, local historian and author of The Stories Houses of Alamo Square, and an avid collector of vintage Christmas decorations. His collection was legendary, and Joe shared his collection annually with friends and family in his lovely Victorian home, decked out in the most extravagant display imaginable. The Alliance was pleased to honor Joe’s life and legacy with an event which combined his historical and collecting pursuits.
