Our name speaks to our beginning; it was an era when neglect and the wholesale destruction of Victorian buildings were commonplace. Once the staple for housing, by the early 1970s, the rate of loss, accelerated by misguided “Urban Renewal” programs, galvanized a small group with the united goal of saving San Francisco’s architectural legacy. Hands-on restoration, education, lobbying, a lively social network, and regular monthly meetings continue to bring us together today.

Joining the Alliance is easy. Your low annual membership dues help us continue our vital work while providing you with access to social events, parties, and more. You can also donate to support our work to preserve San Francisco’s unique architectural legacy.
